Mr. Smith is a partner in the firm's Mergers and Acquisitions practice group and has substantial experience in a myriad of business matters including organizational, governance, mergers and acquisitions, taxation, securities and regulatory matters. He also represents venture capital firms as well as business entitites with respect to venture capital and the private placement of debt and equity securities. He provides legal counsel to financial institutions regarding regulatory and lending matters and to real estate developers regarding the acquisition and development of commercial and residential real estate. Mr. Smith has been the Co-Chairman of the Arkansas Venture Forum and the Co-Chairman of Arkansas' Federal Tax Institute. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Arkansas Venture Forum, the Executive Committee of the University of Arkansas Technology Development Foundation, the Board of Directors of GENESIS Technology Incubator and the Board of Advisors of the Arkansas Tech University School of Business. He also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arkansas Tech University Foundation, where he chairs its Finance Committee, is the current chairman of the Fayetteville Community Foundation, and serves on the Board of Directors of the North Arkansas Symphony, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Northwest Arkansas and the MANA Foundation. He is a 2002 graduate of Leadership Fayetteville.
